Consumers Continue to Spend and Not SaveEven though the personal savings rate hovers around zero, consumers continue to spend at a record pace. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), consumers will spend nearly 2.2 trillion dollars in 2005 on goods and services from retail stores. It seems that higher energy prices have not dented people's appetite for stuff.
