General Mills Pays a Solid Dividend

General Mills (GIS), a food company with well-known brands including Cheerios, Wheaties, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Columbo and Progresso, for years has delivered steady price and dividend appreciation to its shareholders.

Since January 3, 2000 GIS has increased in price 122 percent. Currently, GIS is on a steep price upside that will probably correct.

GIS has a long history of paying dividends. Since 2004 the quarterly dividend has increased from 27.5 cents to 40 cents. Its current dividend yield is 2.60 percent.

GIS is an excellent candidate for a long-term dividend reinvestment portfolio.

I (RAH) do not own GIS.
