Exxon Mobil (XOM) has taken the lead from PetroChina (PTR) as the world's largest company as measured by market capitalization (number outstanding shares times price). At the March 25 closing prices, XOM is worth $455.82 billion versus $453.1 billion for PTR. PTR is down 51.18 percent from is all-time closing high of $263.70 set on November 17, 2007. While PTR's price bubble was bursting, XOM fell only 9.39 percent from its November 18, 2007 peak of $94.03.
