Ballmer's Microsoft Delivers Little Wealth to Shareholders
Since Steve Ballmer took over as CEO of Microsoft (MSFT)
on January 13, 2000, Microsoft investors have had little to cheer about.
The stock is down 37.42 percent from its January 13, 2000 close. And during
Ballmer's tenure, of the possible 2,102,275 buy and sell combinations
(based on daily close) 1,193,032 (56.75%) made money; the average gain
was only 2.9 percent.
So for all of the millions of investments from short-term speculative
trades to buy and hold for the long term, only a little over a half have
made money. Microsoft, under Ballmer, has created little wealth for its
investors.
