Homex and Other Mexican Homebuilders Are on the Downside

After enjoying multi-year price upsides, Mexican homebuilders have turned lower. Mexico is not plagued with credit and subprime mortgage problems, rather suitable land is in relative short supply and necessary infrastructure is lacking.

The chart of Homex Development (HXM) is down from its peak but not as much as its U.S. and Mexican counterparts. However, the stocks of four other major Mexican homebuilders have not been as fortunate (table).
