Like most stocks, Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A) is down, but its 12.7 percent decline from its all-time closing high of $149,200 set on December 10, 2007 is mild compared with the 50 to 90 percent declines recorded by many stocks. Buy-and-hold investors are best served in downside as well as upside markets with companies that know how to manage risk and reward.
