Exchange Traded Funds for Gold Are Available

You can participate in the action of the gold market without holding gold or stocks of gold mining companies. The streetTRACKS Gold Shares (GLD) and the iShares COMEX Gold Trust (IAU), two exchange-traded funds, own gold so they track the price of gold.

Before you buy either gold ETF, check with your tax consultant because capital gains for gold ETFs are taxed at a high rate.
